Internationally acclaimed music festival and conference creators Liverpool Sound City (LSC), are turning their expertise to the thriving community of digital and gaming creatives with their first ‘Futureproof’ series of events, which offer anyone with an interest in these sectors an opportunity to learn how to make a living from it.
In conjunction with Futureproof partners, ACME / Liverpool Vision and Digital Advisors, LSC is very pleased to announce that Miles Jacobson OBE, Studio Director of Sports Interactive, the team behind the best-selling Football Manager series and creators of the original Championship Manager, will be holding a Q&A at Futureproof.
Delegates will be able to hear Miles speak on Wednesday 13 February when Futureproof Summit will take place in the Baltic Triangle, Liverpool. This presents an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in this industry to have direct access to one of the UK’s most high profile and success businesspeople.
“We are absolutely delighted that Miles has agreed to attend Futureproof because we know he has an incredible following and his business reputation and experiences make him pitch perfect for this summit,” said David Pichilingi, CEO, Liverpool Sound City.
“This is big news for anyone in the North-West wanting to hear from someone who’s really had a fundamental impact on the gaming industry worldwide,” said Kevin McManus, head of creative industries at ACME.
“The sort of insight and knowledge that Miles Jacobson will bring to Futureproof is second to none so we expect there to be a huge demand for this Q&A.”
In 2011, Miles was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for services to the gaming industry after initially launching his career in the music business, working with bands such as Jesus Jones, Dubstar, Shampoo, Blur, Feeder, Fat Boy Slim and The Bluetones at Food Records.
Paul and Oliver Collyer created Sports Interactive in 1994 after developing a game from their bedrooms in the late 1980s.
Miles first became involved Sports Interactive as a fan of the game, becoming one of the early testers and progressing to part-time managing director in 1999. By 2001, he assumed full-time responsibility, growing Sports Interactive from a fledgling start-up employing five people to one of the best-known brands in UK game development with a staff of 77 and a network of more than international 1,000 scouts.
To date, the studio has sold in excess of 15 million games, has been responsible for six of the top 10 fastest-selling PC games of all time in the UK and has enjoyed more than 200 weeks at No.1 in the PC charts.
In the last two days, Red Bull, Liverpool ONE, Dawsons Music and Coethica have also confirmed that they will be attending the event. AXM Venture Capital has also confirmed that it will be holding a roundtable and one-to-ones with delegates interested in finding out about investment.
